Fall in Love With Fall

The whispers of the gentle wind stroke against your cheek. The spectrum of warm colors crunches beneath your feet as you head toward another long day of school. The moon’s arrival upon the vast blackness has become earlier and longer, and the beam of the sun has become much more subdued. The season of change, the season of knitted scarves and cardigans, the season of endless pumpkin spice lattes under your snug blanket: Fall has officially arrived!

As the saying goes “Autumn is a time of harvest,” the season promises bountiful celebrations with its excellent use of ripe vegetables, unique hues, and the softening blow of wind. However, despite the laughter and warmth that the season can bring, Autumn is predominantly overlooked as an awkward chapter squeezed between summer and winter. As SFS students, it is a lie to say that we are not looking forward to exciting festivities in the winter snow or aching for the splashes of the summer beach. Hence, the underappreciation of the special stage of the year has become far too apparent, even when it provides a compromise between the two extreme seasons. So, instead of lingering around the past or the future, why don’t we harmonize the arrival of Autumn by romanticizing each breath of the season?

  1. Follow a new recipe.

Let the season allow you to learn a new recipe: pumpkin spice cupcakes, caramel-coated apple buns, sweet cinnamon rolls… the choice is yours! Autumn is ample of enlivened fruits and vegetables that can soak into your ingredients, and the usage of any will warm your pressurized heart. Perhaps it’s your sign to catch up on your awaited baking list while listening to some homely jazz. Spend a few minutes escaping from the burden of upcoming assignments, and instead fixate your focus on the relaxation of baking. Each twist and turn of your spatula will untie the knots of your stress!

  1. Admire the changing colors of the outside.

Now that the exhausting summer heat has wiped away, take a stroll outside! The stroke of the breezy air, the leaves gently falling in your way, and the fragile leaves painted beneath your feet will most definitely make your walk relaxing. As your earplugs hum your favorite tunes and you sip that pumpkin spice latte, I promise that you will be able to enjoy and romanticize the new weather to its fullest.

  1. Listen to your autumn playlist.

A befitting melody for the atmosphere you are surrounded by is a vital tool for romanticizing your autumn. What does your autumn remind you of? Does it make you reminisce about a special memory, friend, or tune? Creating a playlist with all of your autumnal songs will soon become the magic wand to assemble your long-awaited ambiance.

  1. Light up a fall-scented candle in your bedroom.

Sound, views, and taste. Yet, there is still one aspect that can romanticize the season to its fullest: Aroma. Visit a small shop and personally select a fragrance, or maybe you are finally unwrapping an old candle gift from a friend of yours. However you may acquire your scent, generously let the scent fill the corners of your room. As you breathe in the ribbons of the flickering candle, you will remember the fact that autumn has arrived for you to romanticize it.

All of this being said, this is another reminder to not waste an episode of your life that can be filled with forever-lasting memories. If we solely choose to drive our stimulation toward unmotivating distractions, we are missing out on so many possibilities. It is an underestimate to say that high school is tough. And yet, if we begin to romanticize each and every part of the seasons that we are given, I promise you that you will leave with absent regrets.
