Ethan’s a senior with an avid interest in environmental conservation, international relations, and of course, writing. He loves crocheting, drawing, and watching nature documentaries—especially those about whales. This is his fourth and final year working for The Spirit, and he’s excited to share the hidden stories of Seoul Foreign School as co-editor-in-chief.

Jenna is a senior and will serve as the co-editor-in-chief for the 2023-2024 school year. She has been part of the News and Culture pages of The Spirit. 

Lily is a senior and in her fourth year with The Spirit team, now editing for the World Page. She weekly selects articles and stories that she hopes will engage readers of The Spirit. Words of all kinds interest Lily: written, sung, and spoken. Though she has six different words for olive stuffed in her head, she especially fancies Latin and Greek. Lily’s traveled to six continents and she’s forever ready to pack for the next adventure.

Joseph is a junior and will serve as the editor of the Lifestyle page for the 2023-2024 school year. He has been part of the Sports and Community pages of The Spirit. 

Jia is a senior and will serve as the editor of the Community page for the 2023-2024 school year. She has been part of the Opinion, Sports, and Community pages of The Spirit. 

Ina is a current junior and this is her third year in The Spirit. As a passionate journalist, she hopes to share the spirit of the SFS community through publications. She likes to surround herself with books, food, music, and movies. As editor of the Culture page, she is often immersed in the latest pop culture trends, classic films, and the arts. 

Alice is a junior with an interest in studying psychology. Beyond her academic pursuits, Alice finds herself enthralled in wildlife, discovering new music, and the oxford comma. Often described as an open-minded and capricious person, Alice eagerly embraces new adventures and is thrilled to share her perspective to The Spirit as the Spotlight Page editor.

Yena is a junior who has been a part of The Spirit for the past 3 years. As an eager photographer, she spends most of her time taking photos on walks with her friends or alone listening to music. She loves to meet new people and has a strangely deep love for food :)

Taryn’s a junior in her third year with The Spirit. She loves all things arts related—in addition to being involved with visual arts, you can also find her stage managing for theater productions and playing violin for the high school chamber orchestra. In her free time, she’s usually picking up new crafts projects she’ll never finish or (unfortunately) scrolling on social media. 

Erin is a sophomore and this is her second year in The Spirit community. She loves the winter time and looks forward to the hot chocolate and snowy weather all year long. Although her work load is always sky-high, she enjoys making unforgettable memories with her friends and hopes to share amazing memories with this year’s illustration team as well!

Olivia is a current sophomore and this is her second year as a World writer for The Spirit. Traveling to hotspots that now make daily headlines has honed Olivia’s interest in world events and she understands the importance of keeping readers informed. Though a busy MYP student, Olivia manages to find time to read, go to concerts with friends, and eat excessive quantities of noodles.

Royce is a current sophomore and writer for The Spirit’s World Page with academic interests in history, politics, and geography. He loves reporting about current geopolitical events and issues but has recently been exploring the complex and unconventional American political system. On the days that he is not studying or engaging in journalistic activities, he prefers to take long naps or unleash his alter ego as an extremely (and concerningly) avid sports fan. 

Alex is a sophomore and writer for the World Page. He is interested in sociology and philosophy. When not studying, his passions include competitive debate, writing, learning Latin and sometimes even playing squash. He is excited to share his perspective on global events this year and even more excited to work with (annoy) Royce and Olivia.

Won Lee is currently a freshman writer for the World page of The Spirit. She enjoys listening to music, volleyball, studying chemistry – and most importantly writing about her ideas of the world. Whether it is physics or philosophy, she is always gaining new perspectives and sharing various insights wherever and whenever. Taking a step into the new journalist community, she is excited to be a part of the World page.

Leah is a freshman and writer for the World edition of The Spirit. She has a deep passion for cars- be it watching Formula 1 or studying the anatomy of Porsche’s flat-six boxer engine. On the rare occasion that Leah and her father are not fighting about cars, they’re most likely having a heated debate on recent political events. Above all, however, she loves writing prose, short stories, novellas, and poetry. 

Alex is a junior and has written for the Lifestyle page for two years now. His daily life consists mostly of swimming, schoolwork, and catching up on sleep. He is both excited and nervous as he steps into the IB DP program, and can’t wait to devote all of his time to subjects that he loves. He keeps his eyes open for inspiration on new article ideas and is eager to write about student life.

Grace is a junior and second-year writer for the Lifestyle page of The Spirit. She loves cats, taking naps, and taking pictures of pretty skies! As she hopefully overcomes (struggles through) the IB curriculum during her remaining time in high school, she hopes she can write encouraging student-life-oriented articles for all students to read and enjoy. 

Kaitlin is a current sophomore and new writer for the Lifestyle section of The Spirit. Her daily routine involves showering her cat, Haru, with one-sided affection, crying over science, and drifting off to sleep to her 20-hour playlist. During midnight, you're likely to catch her rewatching her all-time favorite films, most notably “Mamma Mia!”. She hopes her rambles about student life could be relatable and enjoyed by students.

Peter, a current sophomore, is a new writer for the lifestyle page. He spends most of his day either in his bed or at his desk and can occasionally (rarely) be seen going out for runs. He wishes to share new perspectives and methods in enhancing students’ day to day lives, hopefully lessening the burden of student life.

Chloe is a junior and this is her first year being part of The Spirit. She is a huge fan of musicals and will probably spend her entire break watching musicals if she was given the time to do so. Other than spotting her holding a calculator and solving complex math and physics questions, you can also find her playing the violin or catching up with the most recent K-Pop songs. 

Minji is a sophomore and a new member of The Spirit. She enjoys playing the cello, attending KPOP concerts, and sleeping through her R&B playlist. When she isn’t stressing over the consequences of procrastination, Minji can be found expressing her frenzied love for her two cats while buying her nth drink at the Crave cafe. She’s very eager to write her share of thoughts for her beloved Community page. 

Sophie Ha is a sophomore and a first time writer of The Spirit. She often questions her existence and the meaning of life, but otherwise she is your average student. Loving cacti, tea, fancy earrings and Siamese cats, she can be a little awkward around strangers. Her life’s goal is to be reborn as a jellyfish, if that’s possible. She’s very excited to work in the Community column - hit her with an email anytime if there’s anything interesting happening in the world around you! 

Yena is a sophomore grateful to be a new writer for the Culture page of The Spirit! Passionate in visual arts, horseback riding, and baking, she strives to explore and notice the depth of the world she is surrounded with. As she juggles these hobbies together, Yena is more than excited to have the honorable opportunity of sharing insight about the cultural aspects of our world to the SFS community. 

Mirim is a sophomore and second-year writer for The Spirit. With a love for sewing, crafting, listening to music, playing soccer, and skiing, the more you get to know her, the more expressive she is. She aspires to make an academic comeback this year and hopes that you’ve at least skimmed through an article in the Culture section!

Justin is a sophomore and a new member of The Spirit. He has a passion for anything music– both playing and listening– and will always be willing take (or give) song recommendations. You can often find him cramped in a library room with his friends during lunch, or wandering around the school searching for said friends. He’s excited to be part of The Spirit this year, and hopes that you find his articles worth reading. 

Eugenie is a freshman writer for the Culture page of The Spirit. She enjoys playing movie OSTs on the piano, exploring astronomy, and having power nap sessions. Her curiosity of the cosmos started with family Star Trek: Discovery marathons and sparked her love for space-related SF films and documentaries. She hopes to write engaging articles about current entertainment media that people should explore.

Jueun is a current junior and is a writer for the Spotlight page of The Spirit. With his passion for meeting new people and experiencing new adventures, he looks forward to writing for the Spotlight Page and can’t wait to share his articles. 

Heejae is a current junior and a staff writer for the Spirit's Spotlight page. Shedding light on new stories to increase engagement amongst the student body, Heejae strives to foster collective connectedness within the school community. He seeks to bring interest to student pursuits to confer greater knowledge; exploration defines his efforts. He's both curious and excited for what's to come.

Ian is a current sophomore and writes for the Spotlight page of The Spirit. Recently finding a fondness towards jazz, he loves to play music on his piano and listen to calming tunes on his Alexa. Ian is also a swimmer who has a concerningly rigorous training schedule, often attending his first-period class with damp hair and a powerful scent of chlorine embedded in his hoodie. Besides that, Ian looks forward to writing for the Spirit and hopes to continue crafting engaging articles.

Jina is excited to be a freshman writer in the Spotlight section of The Spirit. She has a rainbow of hobbies filling up her freetime, ranging from calligraphy, cartwheeling with friends, drawing, and various sports. She is also very flexible and loves to sleep. As Jina figures out high school this year, she hopes her spotlight interview articles will be a fun way for everyone to learn more about our school community. 

Ella is a senior and has been part of The Spirit as a photographer for 3 years. She loves drawing with pen and capturing nature through photography - especially by the Hangang River!

Aditi is a junior and it’s her second year as a photographer for The Spirit. Apart from photography, Aditi is a musician with nine years of piano under her belt! She can often be found with her headphones on listening to music or on walks with her friends. 

Erin is a current sophomore for the photography team in The Spirit. She enjoys photography a lot, and has been doing photography for 4 years now. Her favorite things to take pictures for are beautiful moments in nature, and her friends having fun. She’s overall so excited to be a part of The Spirit as a photographer, and is ready to contribute to the magazine as a helpful member.

Yesa is a sophomore who is a part of The Spirit photography team. She is far from being the perfect photographer, but she enjoys the little moments she can capture with the camera. Clothes, sports, Tiktok and music are little things in life that bring her joy. You can always find her in the cafe line for a warm cheese ciabatta. 

Olivia is a current sophomore who is excited to start her second year as a photographer for The Spirit. From blurry photos with friends to high-quality landscape shots, she truly enjoys capturing the joy of life through photography. She hopes that she can bring her skills and passion to The Spirit to provide an engaging experience for its readers this year.

Lisa is a freshman and a photographer of The Spirit. She doesn’t know exactly what she wants to do in the future or what she wants to be, but she believes it will likely be related to design. Her favorite thing in life is chatting with her friends and listening to people’s stories, even though she often ends up talking about herself and making people listen to her instead. She is delighted to be a part of The Spirit and is ready to share the best magazines with the SFS community this year!

Sue an is a current junior in the illustration team of The Spirit. She enjoys painting and hanging out with her friends in her free time, and is very excited to be a part of The Spirits illustration team this year.

Ashleigh is a current sophomore, diving into her second year as an illustrator for The Spirit. Besides her love for illustrating, she finds interest in hobbies like making animations and playing the piano. But, its her passion for jazz that truly defines her—you can always find her vibing to some jazz :)

Erin is a current freshman, starting her first year as an Illustrator for The Spirit! She deeply enjoys illustrating, with her preferred media being pen and digital arts. Besides this, she enjoys watching movies, listening to music (but not so skillful in making them), and playing badminton during her free time.  She is excited to see the final works The Spirit will create, and wishes the best for everyone :)

Yura is currently a freshman attending SFS and is an illustrator for The Spirit magazine. She enjoys exploring new concepts and sharing them with others. She also takes pleasure in drawing while listening to music or watching movies. Yura is more than thrilled to be partaking in this year’s illustration team and hopes to continue on her passion in the arts. 

Alice is currently a sophomore, and is an illustrator in The Spirit. She enjoys drawing and reading in her free time, preferably at home with a cup of hot tea and warm blankets. She’s excited to be drawing for The Spirit this year, and looks forward to all the upcoming magazines.
